My interests were focused entirely on music from the time I was a child until I became a young adult, at which time they broadened to include philosophy, politics, economics, history, and current events. In terms of output, I began writing about jazz as a teenager for various newspapers, magazines and books, wrote my own book on drumming in my twenties, and began writing on philosophy, politics, economics, history, and current events in my thirties and forties. My future plans are to write an blog, and eventually a book, on the concept of musicality.
This section collects my essays on philosophy, politics and economics, and letters to the editor that analyze current events from a philosophic perspective.
This section collects my interviews with drummer Paul Motian, introduces my book Drumming Patterns, and includes an essay recommending an introductory modern jazz collection.
